The Schoolhouse Dar es Salaam Tanzania

     Ms. Rachel Carlin

This foundation phase school has been established to meet the needs of both the
local and expatriate communities by providing êrst class educational facilities in Dar es Salaam.
This school is headed by Rachel Carlin BA, ED, Dip. Montessori. She has extensive experience in nursery school teaching having been a
fundamental member of the Little Scholars teaching staé, Dar es Salaam, where she taught for four years. She is also a special educational
needs therapist and is able to identify and professionally assess shortcomings within child development.

After obtaining a BA degree from the University of The Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, she moved to Geneva where she was
involved with special needs development of a child suéering from autism syndrome. She was able to gain valuable experience under the
guidance of Roland Hiëer, a leading Swiss special needs therapist for the four years that she was there.

Whilst in Geneva, she qualiêed with a Montessori diploma in foundation phase education.
On returning to Africa, she was involved with school preparedness for children in Zanzibar. Her love and passion for Tanzania led her to
establish herself as a special needs therapist in Dar es Salaam. In order to further her career in education, she obtained a teaching diploma
in 2008 from the University of South Africa.

In 2009 Rachel attended the Special Needs conference in Cape Town where she interacted with leading luminaries in this specialised êeld
and continues to maintain contact with these delegates.
Rachel has, besides devoting her energies to foundation phase education, developed cirricula for Little Scholars as well as for the Aga Khan
Community. Her curriculum is used in êve mosques in Dar es Salaam to provide additional support to children in their early years. The same
curriculum was launched in Zanzibar in January 2012.

All this passion, knowledge and experience has led to the creation of The Schoolhouse where Rachel hopes change the ways early childhood
is taught in Dar es Salaam.
By admitting your child to this institution, you are assuring him/her of a good start in his/her education career
